Mount the Transfer Switch Near Your Main Panel

Drill a Hole in the Outside Wall for the Inlet Box Wires

Run Inlet Box Cable Through the Hole.

Connect Wires to the Inlet Box Terminals.

Mount the Inlet Box to the Outside Wall

Connect the Wires to the Transfer Switch Generator Terminals

Set Up a Work Light

Turn Off Main Breaker

Remove the Front Panel From the Main Circuit Breaker Panel

IMPORTANT

If the circuit breaker panel has a main breaker, then these two points are always HOT! Never! Touch These Terminals or Wires

Transfer Switch Utility Power

Install a Double-Pole Breaker to Match the Transfer Switch Rating

Connect Neutral and Ground to Buss Bars. Connect Both Hots to the Double Pole Terminals

Transfer Switch Branch Circuits

Select Branch Circuits in the Main Panel For Generator Backup

Remove Each Branch Circuit Hot Wire from the Breaker Terminal and Neutral from the Bus Bar.

Transfer Switch Branch Circuits

Unused Circuit Breakers May Stay in the Main Panel or Remove & Cover Openings

Connect Branch Circuits to Breakers in Transfer Switch & Neutrals to the Neutral Bus

Largest Load ON Wait 5 Seconds Turn on Other Breakers
