The Latest Portable and Inverter Generators from Generac

Generac introduced six new portable generators for 2025. Two inverter generators each have two variations: one for 50-state sales, which includes California, and one for 49-state sales, which excludes California. Of the two traditional style portables, one has both EPA and CARB emissions, the other is an EPA only generator.

All the new models include CO Sense automatic shutdown, a Carbon Monoxide (CO) sensor that detects rising levels of carbon monoxide and shuts the generator down before the gas reaches dangerous levels. All internal combustion engines produce carbon monoxide in their exhaust. Carbon Monoxide can cause serious illness or death within a short time after exposure.

Carbon Monoxide sensing and shutdown are new requirements for PGMA-ANSI G300-2023 compliance, which takes effect in 2025. All the new Generac Portable generators comply with the new carbon monoxide sensor requirements.

Even with CO Sense, no generator that runs on a fossil fuel should run indoors or in any enclosed space. Common fossil fuels for generators include diesel fuel, gasoline, propane, and natural gas.

Never run a Portable Generator in an enclosed space. It doesn’t matter if the windows are open or the garage door is all the way up, carbon monoxide can concentrate to deadly levels in a very short time. Install carbon- monoxide detectors on each level of your home.
